Combining short-term profitability and long-term vision
The mandate
Support senior management in defining its strategic directions for 2018-2020.
The challenge
Our challenge was threefold: mastering the complexity of Quebec’s life sciences industry, understanding the associative model’s distinctive features, and being mindful of a unique, member-based business model operating in a highly regulated environment.
The solutions
Update the previous strategic plan’s diagnostic and situational analysis
Provide input for the management team to use when reviewing the issues arising from the plan
Write a first draft of the strategic plan and the rationale behind it
Design visual support for the plan’s presentation to Board members
Make changes to the documents in preparation for their approval
The results
The detailed rationale and the extensive documentation provided senior management with the tools to facilitate strategic discussions among Board members
The strategic plan was adopted by the Board in early 2018, with only minor changes to its content
"Catherine and her team bring a lot of energy and a tremendous amount of creativity to a process – such as writing a strategic plan - that can sometimes be long and tedious. Catherine knows how to respect an organization's values while also being able to ask relevant questions that embolden us to go further."
